Tex McDorman was raised in Brownwood Texas. Always drawing and doodling, he began pinstriping in high school. His artistic ability was soon realized and he began pinstriping at local car and truck shows.
After high school Tex enlisted in the United States Navy. Being stationed in Norfolk Virginia he soon began his trade there. His art caught the attention of his superiors and he was soon put to work painting everything from names on doors to helicopters. Tex was becoming well known over the years and began painting helmets for Nascar drivers and other celebrities. He also spent many a night pinstriping and painting everything from motorcycles, cars, trucks, guitars, basically anything a customer wanted in a 10x10 shed in his back yard. This allowed him to earn a pretty good part time living.
After spending 10 years serving his country Tex decided to get out of the Navy and take a leap and open a shop in Chesapeake Virginia. Tex's Sign Shop was born. There he started a full time sign shop with his wife (Melissa) and children (Blythe & Critter) as the help. This only expanded his horizons and he began to take on bigger jobs.
In 2002 after some life changing events, our home, the great state of Texas was calling!! So after 20 years we sold everything, including our sign shop to our employee Patti Lashomb, and off we went! Now living in Sanger Texas, Tex and family are busier than ever working in the studio!
Tex still does most major motorcycle events throughout the country. Look for his booth, he an Critter will be giving "Tex Appeal" to customers from all over the world!
LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU OUT THERE ON THE STRIPING AMERICA TOUR!!
As you can see Tex is a little CRAZY! We also have a new addition to our family! Our Grandson Rayden!
